Being an independent opticians practice, we deal with the large contact lens manufacturers as well as smaller specialist companies. This allows us to offer a much wider variety of contact lens choices at Peter Smith Opticians.
Some of the companies we use can be seen below.
Daily disposable contact lenses are great for children and teenagers. They are ideal for both occasional and full time wearers. Using a new lens every day, your eye is much less likely to develop infections.
Great for full time wearers, reusable contact lenses have been around for many years and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and materials. Their wide range of powers means that they can be better for people with stronger prescriptions (which are not always available in a daily disposable).
Astigmatic prescriptions require a toric contact lenses. These lenses allow better accuracy at correcting the distortion that’s seen with an astigmatic eye.
Multifocal contact lenses are contact lenses with multiple prescriptions all in one lens. There is typically a prescription for very close objects, one prescription for normal objects viewed at a distance, and then prescriptions for intermediate distances. This setup helps people with presbyopia correct age-related vision problems where the eye can no longer focus on objects up close.
Rigid Gas Permeable
RGP wearers have declined over the years since the introduction of soft contact lenses. They are still the firm choice for a number of people due to their excellent optics and they allow more oxygen to reach the cornea than most soft contact lenses.
