Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is one of the most up-to-date eye scan technologies for people of all ages. The OCT machine captures images in cross sectional scans and in 3D enabling us to see the different layers of the retina.
Using the OCT, it allows us to see problems within the eye that could not easily be seen before and at a much earlier stage. This usually allows you better treatment options and a better visual outcome.
Some of the common eye conditions which we regularly screen with the OCT include:
- Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)
- Vitreous Degeneration
- Macular holes,
- Epiretinal membranes
- And many more
The scans only take a short appointment to carry out and often do not require the use of eye drops, so it is safe to drive afterwards.
